Tech students are semifinalists in Stossel in the Classroom essay contest

June 10, 2013

Two Sussex Technical High School students were semi-finalists in the third annual Stossel in the Classroom student essay contest. Sophomore Matt Rogers and Freshman Alexandria Spaccarelli, both of Georgetown, each wrote one of the 225 essays chosen from the 3,500 submitted nationwide.

Students were asked to write an essay about whether government or private individuals were better at problem solving, after reading John Stossel’s book, "No They Can’t," or viewing his Fox News special based on the book. Stossel hosts a weekly program on the Fox Business Network.

Matt and Alexandria are both Academic Challenge students who are studying Media Broadcasting at Sussex Tech.

Shown (l-r) are Alexandria, Sussex Tech principal Dr. John Demby, Matt, and Media Broadcasting teacher Gary Conaway.
