Midway Lions send off charter member John Lucid

June 13, 2013

Lion John Lucid Jr., a charter member of the Midway Lions, is leaving Delaware and making a cross country drive to Mt. Angel, Ore. Lucid will take up residence in his grandmother’s home, where he spent part of his youth. John Sr. was an English professor who taught at universities across the country, which gave Lucid a broad picture of the U.S.

Lucid says he loves this area, all the communicants at All Saints' Episcopal Parish and his fellow Midway Lions. One of his first priorities after arriving in Mt. Angel is to find the closest Lions Club and hopefully in the future set up Midway Lions and Mt. Angel Lions as sister cities.

Lucid regularly attended Midway Lions meetings as well as Sunday and Wednesday church services at All Saints' Episcopal Parish.  He participated in many community events such as publicizing fundraisers at Applebee's.  All Midway Lions will miss Lucid, especially his knack for getting members off on the right note for the singing of “God Bless America.”

King Lion Fran Daly, left, sends off Lion John Lucid Jr. with best wishes from the Midway Lions.
