The end of an era in Cape girls' lax at Delaware Senior All-Star Game

June 11, 2013

The Frederick and Young era came to an end June 8 as high scorers Anna Frederick and Sara Young played their last high school lacrosse game at Wesley College in the Delaware Senior All-Star Game.

It wasn't the score that was important - the White team was defeated by the Blue 17-12 - but the camaraderie of playing the game they love with the opponents they have battled for the last four years including friends like Kellen Cannon and Kirstin Lockwood from Sussex Tech, with whom they have played on teams since elementary school.

Frederick is off to Temple University next September, Young will play for the University of Pennsylvania, Cannon will play lax at Bloomsburg University and Lockwood will attend the University of Delaware. Frederick, Young and Cannon were honored with 2013 first team all-state with Frederick and Young being named all-American. Lockwood was named second team all-state.

One thing that they will all remember is the experience of playing for P. J. Kesmodel, who coached Frederick and Young to four DIAA state championships. The Delaware Senior All Star Game was a fitting ending to a glorious career for these friends.
