Chester River Runoff returns to Lewes Canalfront Park June 28

June 14, 2013

The distinctive, crowd-pleasing band Chester River Runoff will be returning to Lewes Canalfront Park Friday, June 28, for a 6:30 p.m. performance. This event is free and made possible through sponsorship of Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery.

Chester River Runoff is an original bluegrass band from Maryland's rural Eastern Shore and a returning favorite to Canalfront Park. The honest, unaffected sound features big harmonies, insightful songwriting and tight instrumental work. Their performances reflect the warm spirit and humor of friends who first started playing together just to learn their instruments.

The band has shared bills with international recording artists including the Fleshtones, Afroman and the Avett Brothers. Since their debut in 2004, they have played country dives and barn dances, as well as many well-known venues. Through this variety of settings, they have forged connections with diverse audiences with their distinctive style, without losing touch with their origins in the bluegrass tradition.

Lewes Canalfront Park comprises nearly three acres on Front Street in downtown Lewes on the banks of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. It is the site of many popular free summer events, including additional Concerts by the Canal, Cinemas by the Canal, weekly yoga and weekly Zumba. These programs and the park itself are a direct result of past and ongoing support of Friends of the Canalfront Park.

The Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park support the programs of the park while the City of Lewes provides maintenance. The Friends organization welcomes new members and volunteers.
