Two Delaware Tech students honored with Jefferson Award

June 24, 2013

Two Delaware Tech students were honored with the Jefferson Award for Public Service at a recent Sussex County Council meeting.

The students, Brandon and Stacy Muñoz, are also siblings. They were nominated for the award in recognition of their participation in the service project We are One Georgetown.

The project, led by Dr. April Vaness, a geography professor from the University of Delaware, included her UD students, as well as additional student volunteers. Stacy and Brandon translated for Spanish-speaking survey recipients.

The Jefferson Awards were founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Sen. Robert Taft Jr. and Sam Beard. The mission was to establish a nationally recognized award for outstanding community and public service.
