Virginia L. Semple, retired registered nurse

Virginia L. Semple, 91, of Millsboro, and formerly of Wilmington, passed away gently, surrounded by her family and loved ones, Sunday, June 9, 2013.

Born in Selbyville, Nov. 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Emory T. and Mattie Tingle Richardson. She was a registered nurse, and retired after a career at Delaware Hospital. She was married to the late William T. Semple, who preceded her in 1994. She served in the Post Canna in Wilmington, was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 1, of Wilmington, and was a past worthy matron. Throughout her life she was involved in the Episcopal Church, having attended St. Mark's in Millsboro and St. Paul’s in Berlin, Md.

She is survived by two daughters: Carol Bradley, of Vienna, Md. and Kimberly Martine, of Wilmington. She is also survived by a brother: Robert Richardson, of Berlin. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded by three children: Mattie L. Von Ritchie, Verna M. Baynum and Thomas Bly. She is also survived by two special grandsons: David Buchannan and Thomas Von Ritchie; a special granddaughter: Patty Fleming; and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren, especially noting two special great-great-grandchildren: Feather Braas and Samantha Jeppi. In addition she had to very special friends: Roberta and John Collins of Millsboro.

A viewing and calling hours will be held at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, from 10  to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 15. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, W. State Street and Ellis Street, Millsboro, at noon. Interment will be Monday, June 17, at 10 a.m., at Henlopen Memorial Park, Route One, Milton.
