Eduardo 'Mikey' and Priscilla Saez, accident victims

June 13, 2013

Eduardo Miguel Saez Sr., and Priscilla Inez Whaley Saez, affectionately known as "Mikey" and "Cil," both 36, of Milton, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a tragic car accident on the morning of Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

Mikey was born April 22, 1977, in Seaford, son of Jose and the late Patricia Saez. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William R. and Lucinda Horsey; and his mother, Patricia Ann (Horsey) Saez.

Cil was born Jan. 4, 1977, in Dover, the daughter of Apostle Lawrence Isaac Spady, and stepfather and mother, Ronald and Melva Whaley.

They were also preceded in death by their baby daughter, Patricia Elaina Saez.

Eduardo and Priscilla were employed by the Cape Henlopen School District. Eduardo worked as a custodian at Cape Henlopen High School. Priscilla worked as bus driver of Bus 27 for Horsey Transportation, and as a general cafeteria worker at H. O. Brittingham Elementary.

They loved their three children very much and were very active in their lives. Whether it was coaching his son’s Pop Warner football team, Milton Little League baseball team, or standing near the finish line pushing his daughter, Shanel, the last few steps. Eduardo always encouraged them to be the best, along with their No. 1 cheerleader, Priscilla, who loved to watch and encourage them also.

Eduardo and Priscilla challenged their children to excel academically as evidenced by their success in their respective schools. They were well-known for their participation in their children’s school and community activities. Their favorite activity was taking their family to Lewes Beach during the summer after the heat of the day.

Where you saw Priscilla, you saw Eduardo and vice versa. They loved to read and share books, go to breakfast together, and go on Sunday night dates. Despite the grief, heartache and sadness felt by our families and so many, they would not have wanted to go to Glory without one another.

They leave to cherish their memories: their children, Shanel Dickens, Eduardo Saez Jr., and Dañiel Saez all of Milton; his father, Jose Saez Sr., of Milton; her parents, Apostle Lawrence Spady of Ellendale and Ronald and Melva Whaley of Lincoln; his siblings, Ozell Horsey of Millsboro, Timothy Horsey of Dover, Antonio (Lorrie) Saez of Millsboro, Jose Jr., (Zona) Saez of Lewes, Maria Horsey of Ellendale, and Juan Sr., (Christina) Saez of Milton; her siblings, Roberta (Terrance) Ward of Queens, N.Y., Melva (Greg) Smock of Rehoboth, Lawrence Spady of Fort Lee, Va., William (Nahomi) Whaley of Lincoln, Marvin Spady of Milford, David (Taisha) Spady of Queens, Andrea (Keith) Sivels of Lincoln, Isaac (Titania) Whaley of Lincoln, Deborah Spady of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Aaron Spady of Georgetown; and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, long-time friends, and the Cape Henlopen community.

Mikey and Cil, we will all miss you, your cooking and Mama Cil’s cookies!
