Oil Painting in an Impressionistic Style with Margaret Bayalis will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday through Saturday, July 18, 19 and 20. Bayalis is a master at impressionist style. In this class she will share her style of working with a limited palette, loose brushwork and creating luminosity in her finished work. Students will work from photos in the studio and paint landscapes en plein air. Group and individual instruction will be provided. Cost is $125 for MAL members and $140 for nonmembers. A supply list will be provided upon registration. Register by July 13.
John Bayalis will teach Realist Watercolor Painting Techniques from 1 to 4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, July 18 through 20. Watercolor is often thought of as a loose, uncontrollable medium. Bayalis, however, has used the medium to produce hyper-real paintings that have won awards and been collected throughout the U.S.
Students will experience a full range of instruction focusing on production of vivid, detailed, sharp-focus watercolors. The studio workshop instruction will include color theory, using photo sources, compositional concerns, and brushwork and splattering techniques. Students will produce sample works using these techniques. Class is open to all student levels, but some watercolor experience would be helpful. A supply list will be provided upon registration. Register by July 13. Cost is $125 form MAL members and $140 for nonmembers.
