Angry birds: It's not a game

I love birds and wish I knew more about them. I end up taking a lot of photographs of birds without knowing what kind of bird I just captured with my camera. Fortunately, I have people who know everything there is to know about birds. I actually enjoyed the movie “The Big Year,” and have watched it at least twice. You bird lovers know what that is all about.

In our yard, we try to provide for our neighborhood birds, but starlings have taken over our bird feeders and empty them out almost daily; we've given up.

And this spring, we are home to robin and mockingbird nests. Anyone who has ever been around a nest with young birds knows what happens next. We are victims of dive-bomb attacks when we walk out our front door or walk near the end of the driveway. I've been dropped on once by mother robin.

They even join forces to take us on in the yard if we are not careful. Doing yard work can be a little tricky.

I have learned to wear a hat at all times and am considering wearing a hardhat. Talk about angry birds.
