The Bellmoor Inn presented with combat flag on Flag Day

June 23, 2013

The Bellmoor Inn accepted a combat flag from Scott Burris, an Afghanistan War veteran, on Flag Day. Burris is an active member of the 62nd Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron and has just returned home from a six-month tour in Afghanistan. Before his departure, Burris came to stay with his wife at The Bellmoor Inn.

On Flag Day, the entire Moore family and Bellmoor staff were surprised when Burris and his wife Susan walked through the doors with the flag in hand. The flag was flown in combat on a MQ-9 Reaper Drone during its tour in Afghanistan. The Bellmoor Inn staff thanked Scott and Susan Burris at the presentation.

“What an honor it was to be presented with this flag on Flag Day. Having a son-in-law who served in Afghanistan, I truly understand the sacrifice that Mr. Burris and his family have made for this country,” said Cheryl Bossert, Bellmoor manager.

The flag will remain on display in the first floor library at The Bellmoor Inn.  The Bellmoor is at 6 Christian St. in Rehoboth Beach. For more information go to www.thebellmoor.com.
