June 21, 2013

ParksByNature Network LLC, creator of the nation’s largest multimedia network catering to outdoor enthusiasts, rings in the summer season with Delaware’s first ever officially sanctioned state park app.

The Official Delaware State Parks Pocket Ranger app is equipped with all the features that a visitor will need to plan a fun and safe park adventure in Delaware, including state government-supplied trail and landmark data, as well as detailed safety and facility information.

The Pocket Ranger is free to consumers and configured for both iPhone and Android platforms.

“This year our millions of visitors will have an easy, handheld solution to navigate our park system,” said Chris Polo, chief of creative services of Delaware State Parks.  “The Pocket Ranger app empowers our visitors with the information they need to get out and to enjoy all that our state parks have to offer.”

The Pocket Ranger app features advanced GPS technology for tracking trails and marking waypoints in the great outdoors.  In addition, it is designed to seamlessly integrate with social networking sites, allowing people to connect and share everything from photos to their favorite hiking spots and most successful fishing tips.

Other key features include:

• Places Near Me and Search By Activity, locating recreational destinations and activity availability closest to visitors, and Camping and Lodging, providing information about all in-park overnight facilities.

• A new level of security with Friend Finder, allowing users to keep track of one another while outdoors, and the potentially life-saving Alert feature, which supplies GPS coordinates to designated contacts in case of an emergency.

• Fun on the trail with GeoChallenges, offering various geoquest activities and games throughout the year to guide users to little known scenic wonders.

• Rules & Regulations are just a click away. With the Calendar of Events, which updates in real time, all app users are informed of upcoming events for parks and fish and wildlife areas.

• License & Permits providing all the latest hunting and fishing information for the concerned outdoorsmen.

“The Pocket Ranger is the ultimate resource for the avid outdoor enthusiast or active family seeking an adventure. Planning an outdoor picnic, day trip to the beach or even an extended camping excursion has never been easier,” said Richard Dubi, CEO ParksByNature Network.  “Now, families and individuals can access all the state park systems that Rhode Island has to offer with just the touch of a button.”

To date, ParksByNature Network has launched 23 Pocket Ranger state park system apps to help serve the over 741 million people who visit a state park system across the country.
