Rehoboth’s Heidi Lowe Gallery gains international attention

June 25, 2013

Heidi Lowe Gallery temporarily headed north to create a pop-up gallery show at the Society of North American Goldsmiths’ 42nd Annual Conference in Toronto, Canada. Heidi Lowe Gallery, a Rehoboth Beach mainstay for art jewelry since 2005, re-created a mini-version of its gallery in May for artists, curators, educators, writers and dealers from around the world.

“Our pop-up art jewelry show in Toronto was a great success,” gallery owner Lowe said. “We built, displayed and removed the show within hours. More than 300 people came to see the show in six hours. We did a mini-display of our annual Earrings Galore exhibit and showed dozens of earrings on special wallpaper we made just for the show. People got to see the types of creativity and craftsmanship coming out of art jewelry studios and appreciate how people are reinterpreting the idea of the earring and jewelry in general. It was a fun opportunity to show people what we do!”

Heidi Lowe Gallery is open at its permanent location in Rehoboth Beach from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday and Monday. The current show on display is the official Earrings Galore exhibit featuring earrings from around the world. Upcoming shows are from 6 to 9 p.m. and include July 13, Jessica Stephens solo show; Aug. 10, a European curated group show, Suspended in Pink; Oct. 12, Yevgeniya Kaganovich solo show; Nov. 9, Multiples; and Dec. 14, Drusy Party.

Lowe also hosts jewelry making classes. No experience is necessary and all classes are $100 plus materials fees, and students leave the class with their own handmade piece of jewelry. The gallery also hosts Make Your Own Wedding Ring workshops, which are available year round and provide couples with the opportunity to participate in the process of creating one-of-a-kind wedding rings. For questions about scheduling or to reserve a class, contact the gallery at 302-227-9203.

Heidi Lowe Gallery is the little yellow cottage at 328 Rehoboth Ave. in Rehoboth Beach. For more information, visit www.heidilowejewelry.com.
