June 21, 2013

The Delaware Lottery winner who purchased a share of a $50 million Powerball ticket at the Rehoboth Beach Giant has come forward, but has decided to remain anonymous.

The winner is a Delaware resident, and will be awarded a lump sum total of $10.4 million after choosing to take one-third of the jackpot prize. The other winners were from Louisiana and Florida; the Delaware winner has come forward almost one month after it the winning ticket of 2, 6, 19, 21 and 27 with a Powerball of 25 was announced.

Delaware is one of six states that allows winners to remain anonymous. Delaware Lottery will not release the winner's personal information without consent.

Delaware Lottery Director Vernon Kirk said, "Although we cannot reveal the winner's identity, we are pleased to share in the luck of being able to award yet another big jackpot prize, making this individual the ninth jackpot winner overall in the First State."

In May, a Wilmington woman won $2 million playing Powerball. In October, a $50 million Powerball ticket was sold at Cutrona Liquors in Wilmington.
