Kayak Eco-Tours and rentals offered all summer at Cape Henlopen State Park

Beachgoers can now enjoy kayak trips this summer at Cape Henlopen State Park. The Delaware Breakwater Kayak Eco-Tour departs at 10 a.m., Wednesdays through Sundays through Aug. 30. Evening Eco-Tours depart at  6:30 p.m. every Tuesday through Aug. 20.

These guided trips are intended for beginners but can be strenuous. Single and tandem sit-on-top kayaks are available, and the park will provide all the equipment. Breakwater Eco-Tours are for ages 8 and older with a parent or guardian, but single paddlers must be at least 13. Evening Eco-Tours are for ages 13 and older. Be sure to wear secure footwear and bring water and sunscreen. The fee is $25 for a single kayak or $35 for a tandem kayak. To preregister for an eco-tour, call 302-645-6852.

Kayak rentals are available 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily to Sept. 1 at the Kayak Shack at the fishing pier. The rental includes a solo or tandem kayak, PFD, seat and paddle. All participants must have paddling experience. Rentals are for ages 8 and older only, and all minors must be accompanied by a paying parent or guardian. The fee is $15 per person per hour. Kayaks cannot be reserved ahead of time. All boats must be returned before 5 p.m.

The Seaside Nature Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Park entrance fees are in effect.
