Milton to host patriotic events, first Japanese car show July 4
The town of Milton will be holding its first Japanese car show from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, July 4, in the scenic downtown area between the Broadkill River Governors Walk and the Lvdia B. Cannon Museum. Show cars will be parked on the grassy lot at the corners of Union and Magnolia streets.
The show allows ample time for participants and visitors to enjoy other events going on throughout Milton’s Fourth of July Fun Fest. There is plenty of parking for visitors downtown. There is no charge to the public, and car show participants have no registration fee. The Cultured Pearl Restaurant, owned by Susan and Rob Wood, is this year’s car show sponsor. The host of the Japanese car show is MOOD, Miata Owners On Delmarva.
Also participating in the event are the Milton Community Foundation, the Milton Historical Society and the Town of Milton. The Lydia B. Cannon Museum will be open to the public with a craft table for children, and its new Director Allison Schell will be there to welcome all. Irish Eyes restaurant will be selling grilled treats at the car show, and live music will be featured, too. Prizes will be awarded throughout the event.

From 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Milton Memorial Park on Chandler Street, Rising Sun Lodge No. 4 will be selling barbecued chicken and fish with baked beans, green beans and potato salad.
Starting at 3 p.m., the Lions Club will be running the miniature train Clipper Express for children to ride free with donations appreciated, and the club will be selling lemonade and funnel cakes. Also beginning at 3 p.m., field games such as potato sack race, spoon egg race, bean bag toss, ring toss, water balloon toss and bag race will be in progress.
Foot Light Productions will perform patriotic songs at the gazebo from 7 to 9 p.m. The concert is free and sponsored by Bob Willey & Sons, Milton Liquors and Salon Milton. Attendees can bring lawn chairs, picnics and blankets.
