Midway Lions continue community giving and membership growth

June 25, 2013

Although Lions Clubs are known for their work with the blind and those with low vision, they also support local and international charities. Many organizations and institutions count on support from organizations such as the Midway Lions Club.

During the past year, the Midway Lions have been able to support not only Lions International but also charities such as Bless our Children, Special Olympics, Little League, scouting, Christmas baskets, Camp Sunnybrook and many others.

Many members of the Midway Lions actively participate in fundraising for the club, but they also donate many hours volunteering for other organizations that reach out to those less fortunate. Some volunteer at Meals on Wheels, Beebe Medical Center, Tunnell Cancer Center, local nursing homes and other places in need of assistance.

The main way Midway Lions continue with and increase contributions to the community is to continue to grow. The Midway Lions Club has added six new members since September 2012: Lions Lary Fitzgerald, Bob and Barbara Allen, Linda Crawford, Maureen Slivka and Judy Stevenson.

Anyone interested in helping those in need and enjoying great camaraderie may call Membership Chair Lion Mary Jo Devries at 302-645-2585.
