Cinema by the Canal reschedules screening of 'Cirque du Soleil' for July 2

June 26, 2013

The rescheduled screening of the Cinema by the Canal outdoor films series of “Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away” will be Tuesday, July 2, at Lewes Canalfront Park. This year’s expanded four-part series of summer films for all ages is sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park and Citizens Bank.

In this fantasy feature, a young woman in a small Midwestern town goes to a traveling carnival one evening, where she is urged by a silent clown to visit the carnival's circus and see The Aerialist, the show's star attraction. She is entranced by The Aerialist, but during his act he misses a catch and falls to the ground. She rushes to help him, but then the ground beneath them gives way and they fall through into the dreamlike world of Cirque du Soleil.

Separated, they travel through the different tent worlds trying to find each other, interacting with the strange and wonderful performers and performances of Cirque du Soleil. The Hollywood Reporter’s Megan Lehmann says “James Cameron and Andrew Adamson join forces to represent a fantastical love story, featuring the best of the world-famous circus troupe’s elaborate performances."

The film will begin at dusk - 8:15 - 8:30 pm - at Canalfront Park, 211 Front St., Lewes. Admission is free. Bring chairs or blankets. For more information, go to www.rehobothfilm.com.
