July 1, 2013

The process of mold removal is often considered very involved and many people think that you need special chemicals to do the job. However, there are several household items that you can use to eliminate mold. Here are the basics of mold removal with household items.

Step 1 - Start with Soap

The most basic way that you can remove mold is to start with a mixture of soap and warm water. Soap should be able to remove many different kinds of mold on several different surfaces. Use a rag or a scrubbing brush to scrub the mold once you have applied the soapy water.

Step 2 - Baking Soda and Vinegar

If the mold is still in place after using soap, you might want to try using baking soda and vinegar. Mix some baking soda with water and form a paste. Put the paste on the mold and let it soak. Then scrub it off with the brush. Apply some vinegar to the surface and scrub it again if the problem still remains.

Step 3 - Disinfect with Bleach

After you have removed the mold, you should use a mixture of water and bleach to disinfect the area. Use equal parts of water and bleach and then apply it to the area. Then wipe it down to make sure that no moisture is left.
