LYC provides plenty of time for racing

July 9, 2013

More than 20 sailboats are part of the Lewes Yacht Club Beer Can Regatta fleet. The boats race every Wednesday night during the summer, and then crews spend time in the LYC bar talking about the race – hence the name.

LYC has a weekly youth sailing school and also offers weekly races for Mobjacks and Sunfish on Sundays.

In the traditional July Fourth races, Money Penny, Mahal and Balance took the top three spots.

LYC will host three more regattas this season: Cape to Cape Challenge from Cape May, N.J., to Lewes, Aug. 2 and 3; J-70 Beach Brawl Shootout, Aug. 10 and 11; and Sunfish World Championships, Oct. 4 to 11.
