Lewes American Legion support appreciated

July 22, 2013

On behalf of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17, Lewes, I would like to thank the community for its support, and local businesses for their donations, to make our spring fundraiser a success. The Spring Vendor and Craft Sale, on June 1 was held at the pavilion on the Post 17 grounds.

As part of the day's events, one lucky winner was drawn, winning the summer fun raffle. Jan Fisher of Lewes had the winning ticket and was delighted with the prize.

Our thanks go out to the business community who, without their continued support, we would not be able to survive. A special thanks goes to the Daily Market, ACE Best hardware, Oceanside Casual Furniture, Tuesday Morning and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery for donations to the raffle. Also Tom & Dotty Murray for the donation of the firepit.

With proceeds of our fundraisers we are able to mail many packages to troops abroad and provide support to our local veterans and their families. This year we have set aside funds for USO-Fisher House, Dover, who serve and support the families with temporary lodging during the transfer of remains of their loved one, and Friends of the Fallen who attend to the dignified transfer of the US Military member who has given their lives in the service of our country.

To make a donation to or become a member of our auxiliary, please contact me by email at lewesgirl@gmail.com, or call 302-841-0491.
