Nanticoke Immediate Care opens in Georgetown

Community open house set for Aug. 1
July 22, 2013

Nanticoke Health Services is expanding with the addition of Nanticoke Immediate Care at 505 W. Market St. in Georgetown. It will host a community open house from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1.

Nanticoke Immediate Care is open seven days a week, no appointment needed, providing care for minor illnesses and injuries. Nanticoke Immediate Care is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Thomas Brown, senior vice president of Nanticoke Health Services and president of the Nanticoke Physician Network, says, “The new immediate care service will not only bring additional healthcare providers to Georgetown but will also provide access to care without an appointment and will be open to the community evenings and weekends, making it easier for people who have other commitments during the day to access the care they need.”

Nanticoke Immediate Care is a part of the Nanticoke Physician Network. This means that patients of the Nanticoke Physician Network will have secure online access to view information about a visit to Nanticoke Immediate Care or any Nanticoke Physician Network doctor’s office visit. Also, physicians in the Nanticoke Physician Network share an electronic medical record.  A Nanticoke physician can immediately view information about a patient's immediate care visit. Patients simply need to provide physician’s name during registration.

Brown said, “For patients whose primary care physician is a member of the Nanticoke Physician Network, their doctor can easily see information on the care provided and any tests results completed during their visit to Nanticoke Immediate Care. This allows for a continuum of care for patients. We believe better communication means better care.” For patients whose physicians are not a part of the network, a standard report of the visit will be sent to the primary care provider.

Nanticoke Health Services features an award-winning, full-service community hospital. Nanticoke Memorial Hospital is ranked No. 1 in Delaware and among America’s Best 100 Hospitals for Critical Care for 2012 and 2013 by HealthGrades Inc. Nanticoke has been named one of the Best 100 Places to Work in Healthcare by Becker’s Hospital Review for the second year in a row. For more information go to www.nanticoke.org/immediatecare.
