July 23, 2013

The 11th Annual Beach House Barbecue will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Children’s Beach House,1800 Bay Ave. in Lewes. This fundraiser benefits CBH’s programs serving children ages 7-18 statewide.

At Children’s Beach House young people engage in arts and crafts, boating, kayaking, swimming, sports, group activities and environmental education. These programs and activities are designed to help children with special needs reach their highest potential as functioning members of their families and communities. Trustee Emilee Reynolds started this event as a Sussex County friend-raiser 10 years ago.

A Night in Oz is chaired by trustee Dr. Robert Wiltshire and event co-chairs Doris and Allen Lehman. This evening of fun by the bay will showcase the story of Dorothy and the Ruby Slippers; her friends the Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow; good and bad witches, flying monkeys, twisters and Toto. The imagination and creativity of local artists will be presented in the Emerald City Silent Auction. The artists' twists on the iconic images of Oz will be brought to life for all who follow the Yellow Brick Road.

The auction will also feature items donated by many local businesses.  Owners of local businesses who would like to donate items should email trustee Linda Fischer, silent auction coordinator, at bfischer@dmv.com.

Tickets are limited in number and cost $100 per person. Call 302-645-9184 or visit www.cbhinc.org to purchase tickets online.
