Robert T. Mehlmann, retired truck driver

Robert “Bob” T. Mehlmann, 71, of Millsboro, formerly of Lansdowne, Pa., passed away suddenly Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

Mr. Mehlmann was born June 20, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Joseph and Mary (Mathews) Mehlmann. He served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Teamsters Local 107 Union in Philadelphia, where he served as a truck driver.

Bob enjoyed fishing and boating after his retirement and move to Delaware. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro, the Indian River Yacht Club in Millsboro, the Lewes Rehoboth Moose Lodge 646 in Lewes and the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 in Lewes.

Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary (Rodgers) Mehlmann; two sons, Carl Mehlmann and his wife Mindi of Morton, Pa. and Kevin Mehlmann and his wife Diane of Thorndale, Pa.; three grandchildren, Ryan and Brett Mehlmann of Thorndale, and Frank Baer of Clifton Heights, Pa.; and two brothers, Joseph Mehlmann and his wife Carol of Dagsboro, and Francis Mehlmann and his wife Denise of Manheim, Pa.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 26, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Bob’s name to the Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharps Road, Milford, DE 19963.
