Posture Pain helped with Chiropractic

It is amazing how much time we spend in our lives sitting in front of a computer or T.V.  Our bodies are dynamic and are meant to move.  Sitting for long periods increases the pressure on your spine by 40%.  Over time your hip flexors can shorten and tighten and cause abnormal pelvic tilt and pull on your spine.  Does this contribute to low back pain? In my experience it does not but it does create reduced mobility in the lower spine and pelvic regions.  More often the vertebrae shift and the discs between the vertebrae can start to bulge.  This is why most people have more pain when they are sitting forward slightly as opposed to resting into the back of the chair or if they are standing and lean forward slightly. poor and correct sitting postures

Most people have the posture on the left in the picture which causes an abnormal curve in the low back and increases the stress on the ligaments, bones and discs.  This also leads to neck problems such as neck tension, neck pain, headaches, arthritis and can affect the nerve flow traveling to your body as published in the Mayo Clinic Health Letter in 2000.  Evidence exists that poor postural positions alter the the blood flow to the spinal cord.

Overtime your body adapts to this poor posture, the spine mis-aligns and creates nerve pressure.  Without normal nerve flow the body can not function optimally and wears out faster.  Chiropractic care helps to rebuild and repair the spine so it works better and you have improved nerve flow.  Doesn't everyone want 100% nerve flow going to all their organs, muscles and extremities?  Remember your body is powered by an electrical charge that comes from your brain down your spinal cord to every tissue in your body.

So to help with postural pain, get up from the chair often and stretch or walk around, try to sit more upright, exercise 2-3 times per week to keep your muscles strong and flexible and get your adjustments to keep the vertebrae in proper  alignment.
