Maritime Heritage Festival held at Indian River Life-Saving Station
July 25, 2013
The third annual Maritime Heritage Festival was held July 21 at the Indian River Life-Saving Station in Delaware Seashore State Park. Musical entertainment, local historical societies, the Delaware Tech Treasures of the Sea Exhibit and the Lightship Overfalls were among the exhibitors.
The highlight was the Breeches Buoy Rescue Demonstration, which portrays a historic shipwreck rescue. Coast Guard members joined Delaware Seashore State Park interpreters to show the difficulties that faced the U.S. Life-Saving Service of years past.
