Ocean View filmmakers, authors to sign books Aug. 16 at Bethany Beach Books

"Build Your Dreams" offers guide for millenials
August 1, 2013

Ocean View filmmakers Chip Hiden and Alexis Irvin have published a guide for millenials who want to turn their passion into their profession. The authors will appear for a book signing for "Build Your Dreams:  How to Make a Living Doing What You Love" at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at Bethany Beach Books.

Prior to writing "Build Your Dreams," Hiden and Irvin created "The Dream Share Project," an inspirational documentary film and career workshop that has inspired thousands of college students across the U.S. "The Dream Share Project" follows Hiden and Irvin, two recent college graduates, on a road trip across the U.S. as they explore how successful people have chased their dreams.

The film features eye-opening advice and anecdotal wisdom from an Olympic skier, one of the original Latin Kings of Comedy, a slam poet, a Project Runway fashion designer, the CEO of a sustainable flip flop company, and many more.

"In Build Your Dreams," Hiden and Irvin transform their program into the ultimate career guide for a generation seeking meaningful work, offering a unique five-stage framework, using the anagram DREAM, that will allow 20-somethings to make a living doing what they love: Discovery, Research,  Embark, Adapt and Maintain.

About the authors

Hiden graduated from Washington College with a degree in history. In college, he started Chipapalooza, a nonprofit that raises money for diabetes research, founded a campus radio station, and planned all-campus concerts and events.

Irvin graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in journalism. She spent her college years exploring politics, interning for a congresswoman and registering young voters for the nonprofit Rock the Vote. Since then, she has found her true passion for storytelling and empowering young people.
