LHS boat build a wonderful success

July 30, 2013

We would like to celebrate the great boat build teams, sponsors and volunteer crew for another (our fourth) great Lewes Historical Society Father’s Day Weekend Boat Build. It is amazing what Teams Bessie’s Lewesers, Buckley, Campbell, Daffern, DeSabatino, Edgell and Taney accomplished between noon on Friday, and the launch at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Seaworthy all!

Thanks to Mr. P’s and Touch of Italy, who fed us; to West Marine for lifejackets; to Dover Rent-All for the main tent; to Herring Creek Builders for helping with event T’s; and to The Lee Ann Wilkinson Group, The Pilots Association for the Bay and River Delaware, the Issel Family, and the Wooden Boat Crew Oarsmen for helping to fund everything needed to build the kits and put them together.

Thanks to Barb Shelton, Jenney Manning, Amanda Lynn and John McGovern of yhe Lewes Historical Society for their assistance with all aspects of the event.

And last, but certainly not least, a huge thanks to our Lewes Wooden Boat Crew, who spent countless hours building the boat kits, setting up and running the event, and assisting and encouraging the teams: Jimmy and Susan Bertholet, Loren Bystol, Joe DeFeo, Irv Eberhart, Jim Gent, Pete Hansot, Rick Hoenan, Bob Hyberg, JoEllen Jordan, Richard Jundt, Al Klineburger, Bob Kotowski, John McGovern, Jim and Carol McKelvey, Jack Mooney, Chuck Moore, Fran Okoniewski, John Seipp, Alex Sydnor and Mike Taylor.

Your skills and enthusiasm are truly amazing!
