Dewey residents have right to decide

August 16, 2013

Please do not take the decision-making rights away from Dewey residents.

Support a referendum of the people on election day, Saturday, Sept. 21. It's the taxpayer's right to decide.

The income currently paid by business to help run the town is insignificant. I believe a recent article in this paper stated the number was $50,000 (toward the annual $1.3 million-plus police budget). They (the bars) are the primary reason police are needed from May-September. They need to pay their proportionate share (based on what they take out of the town dollar-wise).

As to why a heretofore "resident-friendly" town council and town manager have done a 180 degree turn, who knows what was offered/threatened.
