Atlantic Cup Rugby Tournament scrums at state park

The 41st Atlantic Cup Rugby Tournament took over the grounds of Cape Henlopen State Park Aug. 17 with 18 men's teams taking part in four divisions  and four teams in the women's division.

The men's Premier Division consisted of Baltimore Chesapeake, Salisbury University, Wilmington and the University of Delaware. The Open Division had Frederick, Old Bay, Pittsburgh Highlanders and Delmarva. The Old Boys Division consisted of Gorge Old Dudes, Old Gaelic FOGG, Baltimore Chesapeake Old Boys, Wilmington Old Boys and the Jersey Shore Grey Sharks. The Sevens Division consisted of Rocky Gorge, American University, Kenya Exiles, Susquehanna University and Drexel University.

The Women's Division consisted of Brandywine, Chesapeake, Wo-Ru and Final Four.

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
