Legion Auxiliary 28 throws back-to-school party

September 1, 2013

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 recently ended its Summer Lunch Program with a back-to-school party at Lingo Creek Apartments. Many of the volunteers returned for the afternoon festivities. Grotto Pizza in Long Neck provided pizzas, Nana's and Pop's supplied ice cream and cones, and the Lingo Creek manager and several parents supplied cupcakes and cookies.

Each of the children who attended also received a school bag filled with supplies, and the young ladies also received earrings supplied by the Auxiliary Colorettes. Children too young for school received gift bags with coloring books and age-appropriate tools.

The auxiliary thanked everyone who supported the program this summer and the Delaware Department of Education and the Delaware Food Bank for making the lunch program possible.

Shown are participants in back (l-r) Nigeria Edwards, Kailee Daisy, Jacob Wright, Kyla Bernard and Keandra Dunning; in middle row, Phoenix Miller, Za’Lynn Curtis, Da’Qwan Curtis, John Willy, Ta’Niya Curtis, Alex Miller and Shymaar Olden; in front, Alyssa Sosgate, La’Shawn Curtis, Sha’ziyau Northan and Ethan Wilson.
