No meeting for Sussex council on Sept. 3

Sussex County Council will not meet Tuesday, Sept. 3, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. The next scheduled meeting is at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the county adminis­tration building on The Circle in Georgetown.

Board to review Dewey candidates Aug. 30

Dewey Beach Board of Elec­tions will meet at 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30, at Dewey Beach Town Hall on Rodney Avenue. The board is scheduled to review qualifications of three candi­dates who filed for election to the three available seats on town council. The board will then pos­sibly vote to declare the three candidates elected. The Dew­ey Beach municipal election, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, was cancelled after only three people filed for the three open seats. Mayor Diane Hanson and Commissioner Anna Legates will retain their spots; Commis­sioner Joy Howell did not file for re-election. Thirty-year property owner Ellen Danaher, who filed Aug. 19, will replace Howell on town council. For a complete agenda, go to townofdeweybeach.com.

Milton offices closed Labor Day, meeting set

Milton Town Hall will be closed for the Labor Day holi­day, Monday, Sept. 1. The office will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 2. The town council meeting regularly scheduled for the first Monday of the month will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9, at the Milton Public Library. DART First State’s schedule for Labor Day

DART First State statewide transit services, both fixed route and paratransit, will not operate Monday, Sept. 2, with the excep­tion of the Resort Transit Routes 201-208, its related paratransit service, and Route 305 - Beach Connection. Sept. 2 is the last day of operation for Route 305 – Beach Connection; however, the Resort Transit routes will continue to provide a reduced service schedule through Sun­day, Sept. 15, serving Rehoboth, Lewes, Georgetown, Dewey, Bethany, Fenwick Island and Ocean City, Md. Workshop set Sept. 4 for byway plan

The Delaware Department of Transportation and Sussex County officials will hold a pub­lic workshop to learn more about the Western Sussex Byway Cor­ridor Management Plan and Gateway Development project.

The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Seaford City Hall, 414 High St., from 6 to 8 p.m. The workshop will provide an opportunity for the public to contribute ideas for the develop­ment of a Corridor Management Plan for the Western Sussex Byway. The CMP will provide direction for future projects, by­way logo and website design, and improvements within the region, as well as the development and design of gateway concepts.

Town of Georgetown sets Open Air Market

The Town of Georgetown will host the second Open Air Market Tag/Yard/Rummage/Craft Sale from 7 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Sept. 14, on The Circle. This event will allow interested parties to purchase premium space around The Circle to set up tables and/or displays to sell merchandise, including new, used, artwork, crafts, garage, yard and vintage items.

The Circle will be closed to traffic to allow the public to walk freely so they may enjoy shopping while also having an opportunity to patronize the other businesses and eateries in town. The Historic Courthouse on South Bedford Street will also be open to tour. Individuals and organizations interested in participating can call Town Hall at 302-856-7391 for details.
