September 5, 2013

A team of 2012-13 officers from the Department of Delaware Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars made a special trip to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington Aug. 27. Past Dept. President Dr. Michaele S. Russell, Past Dept. Program Chair of Cancer Aid and Research Frances Turner and Dept. Treasurer Rebecca Pernol had the honor of presenting a team from the hospital a check in the amount of $2,235.65 for the direct costs of research.

The members of the Department of Delaware Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars contributed $2 or more per member to the National Cancer Aid and Research Fund for the 2012-13 year, and a percentage of the total of contributions was returned to Delaware. The approved cancer research grant was then presented to the qualifying cancer research facility within the Department of Delaware.  PDP Russell 2012-13 chose Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children as the recipient of the grant for her year.
