Jean Bowers to show All Things Local Sept. 7 to Oct. 5 at Upper Crust

September 6, 2013

The Upper Crust at 7 E. Market St. in Georgetown will exhibit works by visual and impressionistic artist Jean Bowers. Her show, All Things Local, runs from Saturday, Sept. 7, through Saturday, Oct. 5.

A Meet & Greet reception at The Upper Crust will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19, where individuals can discuss Bowers' art while light refreshments are served.

Bowers will be among the many artists who will be at the Historic Georgetown Art Crawl Sunday, Sept. 22, in conjunction with the Farmer and Foodie Festival on The Circle in Georgetown.

Early in her art endeavors, Bowers loved watercolor, but more recently she has discovered oils. She is currently devoting all her time to exploring this medium and finding ways to make it offer similar qualities to watercolor.

Bowers recently relocated from northern Virginia to Sussex County and finds inspiration and passion for capturing the beauty of Delaware’s coastline and Delmarva’s varied scenery in watercolor, oil and acrylics..

In exploring Delaware’s natural beauty, she is never without her camera. Bowers says her photographs serve as a springboard for her imagination. The viewer should be able to just barely recognize a scene but also experience some emotional connection to the depicted scenes.

The Upper Crust serves made-from-scratch baked goods, fair trade organic coffee, breakfast & lunch in a casual setting. Artists may contact Bruce Mead at bruce@theuppercrust.info or 302-856-2300 to schedule a time to stop in with images of work for approval and to possibly schedule an exhibit date.
