Helen Pachides Holmgren, Dolle's retiree

Helen Pachides Holmgren, 86, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013.

Mrs. Holmgren came to Rehoboth with her two sisters, mother and father between 1922 and 1927.  Her parents opened Dolle’s Candy Land in 1927 with Rudy Dolle from Ocean City, Md., which continued until its dissolution in 1957.  Mrs. Holmgren ran the Beach Luncheon on the Boardwalk from 1955 to 1972.  After that she devoted her life to the family business Dolle’s where she retired in 1995.  She was active in All Saints' Episcopal Church in Rehoboth Beach, as well as the Village Improvement Association (VIA) and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Helen lived her whole life in Rehoboth Beach with the exception of going to the University of Delaware and the first year after marrying her husband Curtis Holmgren.  Helen was predeceased by her husband Curtis; both parents Thomas and Theo Paschides; and both of her sisters, Constance and Alexandra.

She is survived by her daughter Signe Holmgren Murray and her husband Robert Murray Jr. of Henlopen Acres.

Services and burial were held at St. George's and All Saints' Cemetery, Harbeson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Rehoboth Beach Vol. Fire Dept. , P.O. Box 327, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
