September 15, 2013

Browseabout Books, 133 Rehoboth Ave. in Rehoboth Beach, announces a special story time with author Laura Elliott at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21.

Elliott will present "Thanksgiving Day Thanks," which tells the story of Sam trying to figure out what he's thankful for. Sam also works on a special project to share at the Thanksgiving feast - his own version of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Full of creativity, humor and heart, "Thanksgiving Day Thanks" celebrates friendship, family and the many other blessings in life for which people give thanks.

Elliott graduated from Wake Forest University and holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina. She’s a longtime writer for Washingtonian magazine, and was twice a finalist for the National Magazine Award and a recipient of numerous Dateline awards. She currently lives in northern Virginia with her husband, two children and their herd of pets.

Elliott is also the author of young adult historical novels. Most notable is "Under a War-torn Sky." In it, 19-year-old Henry Forester’s plane is shot down by Hitler's Luftwaffe, forcing him to walk across occupied France, with the help of the French Resistance, in hopes of rejoining his unit.

Children can enjoy coloring, the story and a craft. For more information and other events, call 302-226-2665 or visit browseaboutbooks.com.
