Flu vaccinations available at neighborhood Giant Food pharmacies

September 13, 2013

In preparation for the upcoming flu season, Giant Food of Landover, Md., has begun offering flu vaccinations at all of its in-store pharmacies. No appointment is needed, and vaccinations are provided any time the pharmacy is open by Giant’s trusted in-store pharmacists.

“As stewards for the nation’s capital grocer, Giant Food associates have maintained their long-standing commitment to supporting the health and wellness of the surrounding communities. The seasonal flu shots offered at scores of neighborhood stores in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington, D.C. exemplify this promise,” said Gayle Shields, director of pharmacy operations, Giant Food of Landover, Md.

Customers with a Giant Pharmacy Prescription Savings Card will receive $10 off the regular price of a flu shot, and most major insurance plans along with Medicare are accepted. Giant has also partnered with various vendors to offer a free coupon book worth more than $40 in savings to promote better living, while supplies last, to all customers who receive a flu shot. In addition, Giant pharmacists are available to provide on-site flu clinics at workplaces and businesses throughout the community. For more information or to schedule an on-site flu clinic, call Andy Dum at 877-439-1311.

As a full-service pharmacy, all neighborhood Giant locations are taking steps to ensure pharmacies and health departments are well stocked to handle flu-related prescriptions and over-the-counter medications throughout the fall and winter seasons. Also, Giant pharmacists offer several no appointment needed adult vaccinations including those for pneumonia and shingles. Customers can stop in to speak with their Giant pharmacist anytime with questions regarding medications, vaccinations or general health-related questions.
