Dr. George Tilson visits Sussex Consortium

Recently, Dr. George Tilson, from Tilson and Diaz Solutions Inc., and Dale Matusivich, from the Delaware Department of Education, visited the Sussex Consortium and spoke with educators of transition-age students.

Tilson provided resources and ideas on approaches to helping students make the transition to adulthood. He discussed the need for planning in the areas of lifelong learning, independent living, recreation and employment, and how to help students achieve their goals.

Tilson believes that students with disabilities should be encouraged to take ownership of their disability and their education and be advocates for themselves. Matusivich is the education associate for Secondary and Transition Services.
