Sussex County residents were promised 700 jobs for Delaware residents and transparency in the South Korean Allen Harim applications to process two million chickens a week on our beloved Indian River at the old Vlasic/Pinnacle Plant, but Freedom of Information Acts that were held up in legal review since June, were released last week.
Well, apparently our state agencies have been busy, not only writing press releases for Allen Harim and telling them to prepare deflection answers for the media; they have been working hard on an EB 5 Immigrant Investor Program to fast track future employees and their families from other countries and grant them citizenship while marketing this to Chinese investors. As a bonus, at a June meeting in the Millsboro Fire Hall when Allen Harim was asked where these birds would come from, Harim stated, “they want to have 100 new factory farms in a 50-mile radius to supply the birds for slaughter at the new facility.” Now Delaware residents can help foot the bill that will more than likely destroy their property values, the quality of life and further contaminate the Indian River and possibly their water and air quality. I hope voters remember this when Sen. Gerald Hocker and Rep. John Atkins run for re-election.
