LYC Foundation grant funds Boys & Girls Club summer programs

September 29, 2013

The Lewes Yacht Club Foundation provided the Rehoboth Beach Boys & Girls Club with a grant to pay for their educational environmental field trips over the summer.

More than 60 children, almost double the amount the club anticipated would participate, had the opportunity to attend these trips.

The goal was to expose the club members to fun maritime educational activities. Some of the funded trips included educational programs at Cape Henlopen State Park, fishing and canoeing at Abbott’s Mill Nature Center, a Cape Water Taxi eco-trip and an estuarine ecology boat tour.

Club member Ava Lynam said the trips were her favorite part about the Boys & Girls Clubs Summer Fun Club, and she is looking forward to next year’s trips.

The Rehoboth Beach Boys & Girls Club is a licensed childcare facility on Holland Glade Road. It accepts members age 5s to 14.

For more information on any of the programs, call 302-620-9864 or email medgerton@bgclubs.org.
