Peninsula nets more than $22K from Patriot Golf Weekend

September 29, 2013

The Peninsula Golf & Country Club raised $22,261 from Patriot Golf play during Labor Day weekend. Benefiting Folds of Honor, The Peninsula Golf & CC donated $1 from each of the 495 greens fees. Individual donations over $1 were also accepted over the three days of play. In 2012, The Peninsula raised $7,221, which qualified it to rank as a Top 100 Facility for the Folds of Honor Foundation.

“Our members clearly embraced this marvelous event as our fairways and greens were filled throughout Labor Day weekend,” said Donald DeMasters, general manager of The Peninsula. “The Folds of Honor Foundation provides an incredible service to our men and women and their families of the armed forces, and I couldn’t be prouder of how our members once again fully supported Patriot Golf weekend.”

The Folds of Honor Foundation provides scholarships to families of soldiers and military personnel who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty. Over the years, Patriot Golf Day has raised more than $17 million with more than 4,500 golf facilities participating annually, including many Troon Golf properties.

Additional funds were raised by The Peninsula weekend through sponsorships, a free rounds of golf raffle and a Beat the Pro contest with head golf professional Michael Niedler. One of the weekend’s most successful efforts was a silent auction which netted $12,375.

The club also offered hole sponsorships for the weekend. Peninsula Patriot Golf Day hole sponsors included Wells Fargo, LandTech, Valley Crest Golf Course Maintenance, Troon, Brasure’s Pest Control, Wilgus Property Management, Meridian Home Watch, Ocean View Plumbing, Neighbor Electric, Elmwood Property Services, Pools & Spas Unlimited, Advantech Inc., Heavy Seas Beer, Legum & Norman Inc., Sposato Landscape, Envirotech Inc. and Prudential-Gallo Realtors.

The Peninsula Golf & Country Club is managed by Troon Privé, the private club division of Troon. It is at 32981 Peninsula Esplanade, Millsboro.
