Delaware Interfaith Power and Light names new executive director

Delaware Interfaith Power and Light recently announced the appointment of Lee Ann Walling as its new executive director, effective immediately. In this position, Walling will coordinate operational activities, including web and social media, project oversight, and membership communication.

A former journalist for newspapers and television, Walling recently retired from Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, holding positions as chief of planning, responsible for departmental responses to development land-use proposals and related policies.  Also, she administered the Coastal Zone Act, managed the Fort DuPont redevelopment plan, oversaw LEED certification of the RIchardson and Robbins Building, and did other projects as assigned by secretary.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, with a bachelor of journalism degree and an MBA from the University of Delaware, Walling also holds the following credentials; certified planner, American Institute of Certified Planners; LEED Accredited Professional; member, American Planning Association and U.S. Green Building Council; and is certified in web and graphic design by the Delaware College of Art and Design.

In accepting this appointment, Walling said she believes, “All spiritual traditions have a stewardship ethic. I hope to use my passion, knowledge and skills to help Delaware people of faith - and state leaders - learn about and act on the challenge of climate change, encourage building and growth that is sustainable, and identify and promote opportunities to use energy more efficiently.”
