Kaya Wellness & Yoga will host free aerial yoga classes at 8:30, 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28.
Kaya will offer a free Yoga Nidra guided meditation from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29. Participants choose to relax on a mat or in a hammock and will be guided into yogic sleep (nidra), a meditation that shifts brain waves into a pattern of calm and relaxation. Studies have shown that an hour of Yoga Nidra is the equivalent of four hours of deep sleep. Wear comfortable clothing for this event.
The free First Friday event to be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, will focus on conscious breathwork, which helps one stay focused and energized, and creates sweeter, cleaner energetic boundaries. The evening begins with learning the basics of pranayama, releasing and channeling the body's stores of internal pranic energy through various breathing techniques.
Pranayama is meant to nurture a high level of bodily health and mental clarity, both of which are crucial steps on the path to self-knowledge and a wholesome, authentic life. Drumming and chanting conclude the evening, and participants are encouraged to bring their own drums or use one of the studio’s drums.
