Sussex Central Take II Drama Club sets 2013-14 schedule

October 2, 2013

The Take II Drama Club at Sussex Central High School has announced its performance schedule for the 2013-14 school year:

"Reckless" by Craig Lucas - Nov. 21-22 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. This classic contemporary comedy follows the adventures of Rachel, a wife and mother on the run from a hit man, and the wacky and touching characters she meets. Along the way, she wins a game show, gets help from five extremely colorful doctors and finally finds happiness.

"The Fantasticks" by Tom Jones & Harvey Schmidt - Feb. 13-14 at 7 p.m., Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. This hilarious, beautifully written show's original off-Broadway production ran a total of 42 years and 17,162 performances, making it the world's longest-running musical. There will be a Feb. 14 Valentine’s Day special, with $5 tickets for everyone, plus special treats to celebrate the day with a sweetheart.

"Midsummer Night’s Beach Party!" - April 10-11 at 7 p.m., April 12 at 2 p.m. An entirely new, entirely original modern spin on Shakespeare’s classic, "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," set in the wacky, sun-drenched world of an early-1960s beach party movie. Created especially for the talented students of Sussex Central High School, this modern-language take on the Bard’s classic will no doubt be a crowd pleaser when it premieres this year.

Take II Comedy Club - May 14 at 7 p.m. A Take II tradition – student-written sketches and student-improvised hilarity, all in one fabulous night. This is one of their most popular shows.

General admission is $8. Students, seniors, military and middle school student admission is two tickets for $5. Special family and group rates can be arranged by contacting David Warick at david.warick@irsd.k12.de.us. Season tickets are also available in advance for $25.

Season ticket holders get admission to all four shows, priority seating and free admission to two studio shows performed by SCHS’s Advanced Theater classes. This is a great value and a great support to the Take II program.

Sussex Central High School’s Centre for Visual & Performing Arts is at 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.
