East Coast Garden Center to host Harvest Fest Sept. 28

Corn to Run 5K Run/Walk also slated

East Coast Garden Center will celebrate its 7th Annual Harvest Fest and 2nd Annual Corn to Run 5K Run/Walk Saturday, Sept. 28. The day’s schedule of events includes fun for everyone.

The Corn to Run 5K Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m. with the race awards bestowed in the Secret Garden at 10:30 a.m. Race proceeds benefit Cordrey Charities, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the joys and benefits of gardening to everyone in the community.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Brats with Beer from 16 Mile Brewery will be served, along with a silent auction to benefit Cordrey Charities, line dancing and music, a train club and games such as cornhole and ladderball.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., hayrides, games, face painting, paint an aloe pot, pumpkin bowling, sack races, a ghost beanbag toss and balloon animals by Cheryl Blackman will be featured.

A class, New Plants in the Southern Living Collection and Encore Azalea Series, will be taught at noon in the Enrichment Center, followed by a class on Container Gardening for all Seasons with container guru Karen Fox at 1 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., winners of Candy Corn Guessing Game and silent auction items will be announced.

All day, enjoy fall shopping in the garden center among the pansies, pumpkins, scarecrows, witches, and goblins.
