Georgetown Kung-Fu Kwoon students win medals

Two members of the Georgetown Shaolin Kung-Fu Kwoon garnered top honors at the Four Seasons World Organization of Martial Arts Athletes Martial Arts Tournament Sept. 28 at the Sam Yoder Facility in Houston.

First-time competitor Joseph Felton Jr., 8, placed first in weapons and self defense and second in forms in the 9-and-under beginner division. Elias Rose, 11, placed first in weapons, forms, self defense and breaking to win the intermediate division. Rose put himself in contention for the overall regional championship, which will be awarded in early 2014.

The Four Seasons Karate Tournaments are held twice a year and draw competitors from schools in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other states to vie for top honors.
