Jane P. Stuchell, 66, of Lewes, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born Monday, Aug. 18, 1947, in Martinsville, Va., daughter of the late W. Warren and Dorothy (Dowdy) Patrick.
Ms. Stuchell grew up in Morehead City, N.C. and attended St. Mary's College in Raleigh, N.C., before continuing on to University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill Campus, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in art history. Ms. Stuchell worked for various organizations over her career. Most recently she worked for Intervet/Schering-Plough, Merck Animal Health in Millsboro, Roseland, N.J. and Summit, N.J. in regulatory affairs for veterinary pharmaceuticals.
Ms. Stuchell devoted much of her time to volunteer work throughout her life and in particular during her time in Lewes. She was a member of the Colonel David Hall Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, serving as a co-chair for the Taste the Fruit of the Vine fundraiser. She also served as co-chair of the Beebe Medical Center black-tie ball fundraiser. Outside of her volunteer work, she enjoyed gardening, read avidly, and was a gracious host, entertaining friends with her sharp wit.
Ms. Stuchell is survived by her daughter, Claudine S. Emeott, and her husband Brian of San Francisco, Calif.; and numerous dear friends whom she considered family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m., at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 211 Mulberry St., Lewes. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
