Eddie Sherman Presents announces the debut of the True Blue Jazz Series to be held from Wednesday, Oct. 16 to Saturday, Oct. 19 at The Atlantic Boardwalk Grille in the Atlantic Sands Hotel on the Boardwalk in downtown Rehoboth. The series is an alternative offering of mainstream jazz to be held coinciding with the dates of the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival. The True Blue Jazz Series is not affiliated with the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival.

The inaugural series was conceived by husband-and-wife singing duo Eddie Sherman and Peggy Raley. The series kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 16, with the Fred Hughes Trio featuring powerhouse songstress Juanita Williams. Renowned pianist and composer Hughes has been a longtime favorite among locals and visitors alike at vintage Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festivals.

The acclaimed and internationally recognized Philadelphia-based jazz vibes master Tony Miceli will perform Thursday, Oct. 17, with his quartet featuring a special guest, stellar alto saxman Vince Lardear. Also accompanying are jazz stalwarts seen in shows throughout the region, from D.C. to Philly, Matt Parrish on bass and Dan Monaghan on drums.

Catch The Eddie Sherman Show Friday, Oct. 18, featuring jazz songstress Peggy Raley with a special guest, 12-year-old trumpet prodigy Geoff Gallante. Geoff returns to Rehoboth Beach for his third appearance with Eddie Sherman, ready to treat audiences to his remarkable blend of talent and showmanship. Providing their usual solid accompaniment and improv are three of the Delaware beach area’s jazz greats, Joe Holt on piano, Mike McShane on drums, and Dr. Bob Thomas on bass.

The series closes Saturday, Oct. 19, with the unique and spirited urban folk and jazz music of New York City-based artist KJ Denhert and The NY Unit. Denhert was a grand prize winner in the 2012 John Lennon Songwriting Competition in the World Music category. The NY Unit is a lineup of top-flight New York City musicians who wowed the Cape Region in a summer show. Again, Denhert will be joined by Adam Kipple on piano and Ray Levier on drums. Making their Rehoboth debuts are Mamadou Ba on bass, and from the Letterman Band, Aaron Heick on sax.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and all shows are from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Dinner seating is 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Atlantic Boardwalk Grille has put together a special True Blue Jazz Series menu for the dining pleasure of guests as they enjoy the spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean.
