Sometimes I get it right
Sadly, as I predicted, the Denver Broncos hammered the Philadelphia Eagles 52-20! The Eagles were down 14-13 halfway through the second quarter, and then Peyton Manning started dominating the Eagles' defense as only he can. It was like we were all witnesses to him sitting at home playing Madden Football on his PlayStation. Great stuff but very depressing if you are—or were—an Eagles fan. Even with a 1 and 3 record, the Eagles have a chance to be in first place by the end of the week because Dallas has to play Denver this weekend. Dallas is in first place in our division with only a 2- 2 record. The Eagles have a chance to redeem themselves as they play the New York Giants. The Giants are currently one of the most disappointing teams in the entire league with an 0 and 4 record. This really doesn't say much good about any of the teams in the NFC East!
Last weekend's NASCAR event in Dover turned out well with one of the most famous drivers in NASCAR, Jimmie Johnson, setting a new record. He won this race for the eighth time at the same track, breaking the tie record with Richard Petty and Bobby Allison. The Chase for the Cup is NASCAR's version of the playoffs for auto racing, which is a 10-race event. This was race 3 out of the 10. I wouldn't be surprised if the PGA tour actually got the idea for the FedEx Cup golf playoffs using the NASCAR model.
Speaking of golf, the Presidents Cup competition is happening this week in Columbus, Ohio, generally not a famous destination city, but the course is well suited for this event. I hope it is very competitive because the American's have dominated ever since it's inception in 1994. I still want a U.S. win, but would love to see the International team make it a close win. Everybody is going to be there. This is the 10th staging of the event and the U.S. team has won 7 out of the 10! I think the biggest advantage for the U.S. team is the format of play. This format is different from the Ryder Cup in that every player has to play in four of the five rounds. In the Ryder Cup you can stack your team and play your best players, where in the Presidents Cup, everyone has to bring his best game.
