Why Republicans are feeling the heat

October 8, 2013

In response to two previous letters about Don Flood, Mr. Flood is a commentator not a reporter. He has every right to express his opinions, as you do yours.

The primary reason there is such widespread criticism of the Congressional Republicans not only by Democrats, but by many of their fellow Republicans as well, is that they are not proceeding in a responsible fashion.

The ACA passed muster in the prior in Congress as follows:

Passed House Oct 08, 2009

Passed Senate with Changes Dec 24, 2009

House Agreed to Changes Mar 21, 2010

Signed by the President Mar 23, 2010

On June 28,2012, it was declared constitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court. If members of the current congress felt there were ways in which the ACA could have been improved, the correct course of action would have been to draw up and propose amendments to the act - not take the government and the country hostage. Should this become standard operating procedure, it will be the first step down a long, slippery slope towards chaos.
