Milton Farmers Market closes third season with Oktoberfest
The Milton Farmers Market concluded its third season with an Oktoberfest event at Dogfish Head. The event attracted a large crowd throughout the afternoon, many of whom came to enjoy Dogfish Head beer, music from the Chester River Run band and an overall warm fall atmosphere.
The event featured more than 20 vendors offering a wide variety of products, from fresh and organic produce selections and all-natural meats and poultry to breads, pastries and jams.
The Cannery Village Civic Association held a pumpkin carving competition. To compete, participants only needed to donate canned food to be given to Casa San Francisco. Leading up to the event, about 70 participants donated more than 300 canned foods and nonperishable items in exchange for a pumpkin donated by Fifer Orchards and Dogfish Head. Those in attendance at Oktoberfest could cast a vote for their favorite.
Winners were Miki Mathe in the over 21 division, Hunter Holding in the 14-20 division and Addy P. of Rehoboth in the 13 and under division.
